1️⃣ Prerequisites

This guide will detail how to edit the texture of our maps. You will need several software during this tutorial which will lead you step by step towards successful editing.

  • You will therefore need to start with an application called , which is ultimately the editor, it is on this application that you will be able to open the "ytd" file format which you will see, contains the entire editable textures.

  • Secondly, you will need a photo texture editing application, you can use free services like and , or even more professional services like .

Here we go for the tutorial!

2️⃣ The edition

Step 1 - The implementation

To get started, open the OpenIV application and enter edit mode. Once the mode is active, insert the ytd file containing the textures of your mapping (in this case, a file which begins for example with "aeronmodding_props_..."). Then you can double click on the file to open it.

Step 2 - Export

You now have several features available to you. In this case, we want to edit a texture, so select the texture you want to edit, then click "Export Selected". A file navigation page will open, and will ask you to choose the export location, then the export format, we recommend in this tutorial to use the PNG format for ease of use .

Some of our maps do not have all editable textures, however you can change the signs and language indices on all of our creations. For example, sometimes you will see a wood texture on a piece of furniture that you will not be able to change, but you will have access to change an advertisement present inside the map.

Step 3 - Editing the texture

It is now time to change this texture, if you simply want to retouch it, you can open it on the applications mentioned in step 1. If you have redone the entire texture, you can move on to step 4. Once your texture is finished, don't forget to export it in a format like JPG or PNG.

Optimization point:

Please note, it is important to specify that the pixel size of the texture that you choose to add will potentially cause the map to lose optimization. The higher quality your texture is, the more performance you will lose. We therefore advise you, for a quality and optimized rendering, to opt for a texture in 500 pixels by 500 pixels (500x500px)

Step 4 - Importing the new texture

You can now return to your OpenIV page with the ytd file open, and re-select the texture you wish to edit. Once it's entered, you can click "Replace" and choose the new texture. If an error occurs, it is because you have probably set an image format other than JPG or PNG.

Step 5 - Set up

You can now save the file, and above all don't forget to replace it with your old .ytd file inside your server. Don't forget to turn off edit mode on OpenIV once you have completed your manipulation.

You can now enjoy your edition!
