🧰 Object Appearance

Have you just purchased one of our licenses and would like to know why there are objects that are not supposed to be present on it? You are on the page that will give you the solution!

1️⃣ Things to know

You need to know how a map works on GTA 5. Many prejudices say that installing a map is simple and quick, that's true but not in all cases. This requires very little knowledge, and we will provide it to you in this post.

First, let's try to understand how a map can be achieved.

The GTA 5 map is made up of several zones, each zone, the closer a player gets to it, the more detailed the fraction of the map is. This phenomenon is called LOD, you will find more information on the following post. When a map creator adds his own 3D to the game, he must create a zone, mainly removing an existing zone from the map in order to put the new 3D there. It is impossible in GTA 5 to delete elements, which is why the old parts of the map are located below your map. Such deletion would cause many problems like map corruption. When we indicate to the game that when our map loads, it must go down to the base area of GTA5, it saves it with a file, this file is a .ymap. This is therefore the way he knows that an area is not the same as in the normal game. This is why you see files ending in .ymap with complex names, such as hei_dt1_rd1_road1 on all creator maps.

2️⃣ The phenomenon that causes problems

You can imagine it now, when a map creator modifies an area on GTA 5 (for example, he creates a map that places cubes) and you set it up on your server, and you then acquire our map which is located in Mission Row, the problem you are experiencing appears. Indeed, when 2 maps have files ending in .ymap which have the same name on our map and on the map of another creator, you will have objects, your map flashing or other abnormal problems.

Illustration of the outline of the problem in question (conflict between several ymap files with the same name).

3️⃣ The solutions

You have several solutions to resolve file conflicts. You are in fact not obliged to make a choice between map A and map B. We will therefore help you find a solution to your problem. If the different solutions seem too complex to you, our on-demand service is available to provide a quote for the compatibilities to be made (this is in fact a tailor-made resolution for you, which is therefore not a problem coming from our map, but from your server). If, on the other hand, you feel ready, let's go!

Step 1 - Identifying the conflict

We will first have to find the map that conflicts with our map. To do this if you have a lot of maps, you must start only our map, then start your other maps one by one (at least those present in the same area as our map), until you find the map that conflicts.

Step 2 - Handling

Once you find the conflicting map, you need to compare the files of our map and the map of another creator. You must compare them until you see if one or more .ymap files have the same name as one of our maps.

Step 3 - Possible outcomes

Once you have found the conflicting file(s), try to delete the conflicting .ymap files from the other creator, always keep a backup before each manipulation (it happens that creators modify .ymap files not useful and will not affect your maps). 2 solutions are now available to you, either you notice that the problem is resolved, if this is the case, congratulations you have just solved your problem, or the problem no longer arises on our map but causes another problem on the map that you have just edited.

If you have a problem with another map, then you must do what is called compatibility, this action requires knowledge of the CodeWalker application. The principle is to take the 2 files which come into conflict to make it unique with the modifications of the two maps. There are plenty of tutorials available on YouTube if you would like instructions on how to edit, otherwise we can do it for you as part of our private orders.
